About the Programme
Rationale
The BSc Nursing Programme provides the foundation for the graduate Nurses
to practice in a variety of health settings as professional health care providers
and patient advocate. The Programme provides holistic training in Nursing
and midwifery practice, administration, education, research, and leadership.
The graduate is prepared to demonstrate the ethos of Daystar University and
competencies that equip them to work in a local as well as the global settings of
health systems. The university shall admit for the BSc Nursing degree Programme,
such candidates as shall be accepted by the Senate as being academically
qualified, having met the Nursing Council of Kenya entry requirements, and
those who accept the University’s Christian mission and philosophy as provided
under Sections 4 to 7 of the university charter, without regard or preference to
gender, ethnic origin, race being imposed as a condition for admission. Bachelor
of Science Nursing degree will be offered for Nursing students who wish to
pursue the Programme to completion. The University may consider other criteria
approved by Senate that enhances quality.
Admission Requirements:
Applicants must meet entry requirements set by the Nursing Council of Kenya. Direct Entry applicants must have a Mean Grade of C+ in KCSE or its Equivalent with a C+ in four Cluster Subjects namely English, Mathematics/Physics, Chemistry and Biology; or 2 Principal passes and above in KACE, with at least one in Biology and one in Chemistry.
